Pattern Details
Frey is a high-waist, relaxed-fit pant featuring front pleats, spacious slanted pockets, a comfortable elastic waistband, and an optional drawstring at the waist. There are three views: view A is a tapered, ankle-length cut with a slightly curved outer leg; view B is a cropped wide leg; and view C is shorts.

Suggested Fabrics
Suitable for light to mid-weight woven fabrics with no stretch such as linen, cotton (e.g. twill, chambray), hemp, tencel, or silk. Lighter weight canvas, denim, or wool may also be used. Fabrics with a more fluid drape will result in pants that look and feel more ‘flowy’, while more structured fabrics will result in pants that have more volume and hold their shape through the leg. If using a heavier weight fabric, it’s recommended to cut the pocket bag from a lighter weight lining fabric and attach the pocket facing.
Versions shown below are using the following fabrics:
- Black pants (view A) – 7oz linen
- Tan pants (view A) – 8.5oz washed cotton canvas
- Brown pants (view B) – 6oz linen
- Beige shorts (view C) – 6oz yarn-dyed linen
- Blue pants (view B) – 5oz washed linen
- White pants (view A) – 6.5oz laundered linen twill
- Black shorts (view C) – 5oz washed linen
Required Notions & Supplies
- 38mm (1.5″) wide elastic for waistband
- Two 3cm (1 1/4″) squares of light to mid-weight woven fusible interfacing (optional for drawstring)
- Coordinating thread, fabric scissors, pins, bodkin or sturdy safety pin
